Kanani Davis, B.Ed began working with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau – Innu Education in early 2018 as the Chief Executive Officer. She grew up in Sheshatshiu, Labrador.
She is married with 4 children.
In 2008, Kanani graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Education. She is trained in linguistic in standardized Innu
spelling. She has developed many Innu children’s books in Innu Aimun. Equally comfortable in a tent, a classroom or a boardroom, Kanani brings a
wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to all of her endeavours including writing, travel and her family.
Clarence Davis , B.Ed., M.Ed. is a married father of 4 kids. He is a born and raised Labradorian. He began his teaching career in Davis Inlet in the late 1990’s. He has been a teacher and a principal in both Davis Inlet and Sheshatshiu for most of his career. In 2018, he began working as the Director of Programs at the board office for MTIE. Bud has lived in the Innu community of Sheshatshiu for 18 years, and currently lives in Goose Bay, NL.
Andrew Battcock, B.PE., B. Ed., M.Ed is a Curriculum Development Coordinator with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau Innu Education focused on Land Based Outdoor Education. He has worked over 30 years in education and spent his first few years teaching Physical Education at Peenamin McKenzie School in Sheshatshiu.
He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time at the cabin and participating in a number of winter and summer sports.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership. He enjoys working with school staffs and students, and believes that students are our future, with student success being at the forefront of all his work.
Andrew grew up in Goose Bay where he resides today with his wife, three adult children and seven awesome grandchildren.
Originally from Rigolet, NL, she later moved to Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
She graduated in May, 1999 with an honours diploma in Executive Office with Computer Applications from Compu College. Over the past 25 years, she has worked in various offices, developing extensive office administration and clerical skills.
She is committed to contributing to the success of MTIE.
Mary Ann began working with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau – Innu Education in December 2018. She has a background in project management/administration, public consultations, human relations, logistics and supporting office operations. She is skilled in office management including budgeting; contracting, human relations and purchasing
Mary Ann is a member of the Mushuau Innu First Nation. She’s originally from Davis Inlet and currently resides in Goose Bay with her husband Chris and their two boys.
Clara is originally from the Philippines and currently resides in Happy Valley Goose Bay with her husband and son. Clara started working with MTIE on April 28, 2025 and brings years of experience in audit from working with a local government agency in her home country.
Jillian Moores is married and mother of 2 children. She was born and raised in Deer Lake, NL. Her and her family lived in both Goose Bay and Alberta, ultimately returning to Goose Bay in 2020 to be closer to family.
Jill has spent the last 4.5 years as an Accountant for Mushuau Innu First Nation (MIFN). She started working with MTIE in June of 2024 bringing with her years of experience in the accounting and admin duties.
Hans is an experienced accountant, Hans has gained technical professional skills from over a decade of international exposure in accounting, finance, taxation, and auditing. Prior to joining MTIE, Hans gained valuable experience with Ernst & Young, one of the largest accounting firms worldwide. With his passion for learning new ideas and technical skills, he will undoubtedly contribute innovation.
Jody was raised in the community of Sheshatshiu and is a proud registered member of Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation. She is the eldest out of three children.
She also graduated in 2020 from Lake Melville School in North West River. She currently resides in Happy Valley Goose Bay with her partner. She had joined MTIE in November 2022 as a receptionist where she gladly opens the door for everyone that enters the board office.
Lori began working for MTIE in 2009 in the community of Sheshatshiu, where she held the position of High School Mathematics teacher.In 2017 she accepted the position of Vice Principal at Sheshatshiu Innu School, where she remained until accepting her current position in 2023. She is dedicated to the incorporation of culture and language into current programming and is a strong advocate for lifelong learning.Lori is originally from Upper Island Cove, Newfoundland but has made Labrador her home, where she resides with her husband and three children.
Calvin Morgan B.A., is the Digital media developer at Innu Education, where he combines technology and creativity to develop culturally relevant digital media for Innu students and educators. He has been working in Education and digital media for over ten years, specializing in graphic design, web development, IT support and multimedia production. He supports the curriculum team by developing interactive tools and resources that reflect Innu identity and values. He is originally from Jamaica W.I but has made Labrador his home, where he resides with his wife and son.
Hi, l’m Michele Martin, HR Administrative Assistant with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau Innu Education. I help with everything from hiring paperwork to keeping employee records organized and making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
I’m originally from Cartwright and love working in a role that supports both staff and students in our schools. Building good relationships and helping people is a big part of why I enjoy what I do.
When I’m not at work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, staying busy, and enjoying life in Labrador.
Clive is originally from Birmingham in the United Kingdom and relocated to Labrador in 2007, the home of his wife, Lindsay. He is also the proud father of Owen. It is his belief that the facilities department has an important part to play in helping provide a safe, positive learning environment for students, staff both current and future. He joined MTIE in March 2025 bringing with him experience from the facilities department of NLESD/NL Schools. With a background in Carpentry (RSE), Clive has contributed to the successful operation of numerous schools, applying his skills to ensure well-maintained and functional learning spaces.
Barbara Hill , B.Ed., BSEd., M.Ed. (Literacy), ECE has been working with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau Innu Education since January
She was the First Nations student support coordinator in Sheshatshiu and is now the MTIE program Specialist for Literacy.
She is originally from Stephenville, NL, and has spent over 31 years of her career in the Corner Brook area with the Newfoundland and Labrador Education School District. She brings various experiences and roles, such as Special Needs teacher, Multiage teacher, Vice Principal, Numeracy Support and Literacy Support teacher. For 9 years, she was also a term instructor in the Bachelor of Primary Education program at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Student learning is her passion, and she is thrilled to be part of the MTIE team.
Faron Sheppard , B.Ed., M.Ed. is originally from the Corner Brook area of NL. He is a married father of two. After 30 years of working with the former Labrador School Board and NLESD, as a teacher, Guidance Counsellor and Program Specialist in Student Services, Faron brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Student Services at MTIE.
Angela started working with MTIE January 2021. She brings with her over 30 years of experience and a background in Hospital Accounting. She has completed various duties in several different accounting roles such as Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Financial Assessor.
Angela is married and currently resides in Happy Valley Goose Bay and is originally from St. Anthony. She’s a proud mother of three and three grandchildren.
Allison, originally from Newfoundland, has been living and working in Happy Valley-Goose Bay with her husband and three children for 16 years. She is a Speech-Language Pathologist with extensive experience working in the health system. She was very excited to join the MTIE team in March 2025.
Robert Swyer, B. Sc., B. Ed., M.Ed. is a STEM Program Specialist with Mamu Tshishkutamashutau Innu Education. He is a team player dedicated to helping the teachers, administrators and students in both our Natuashish and Sheshatshiu schools. Robert believes that all children are unique and need stimulating classroom environments where they can grow mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially.
Robert has a B.Sc., B.Ed., and M. Ed. from Memorial University, St.John’s, NL. He has been an educator in Newfoundland and Labrador for over thirty years and has taught in the communities of Wabush, Gander, Southern Harbour and Hopedale. Robert was a Program Specialist with both the Labrador School Board (Math, K-12) and the Newfoundland and Labrador School District (Math/Science, 7-12). He lives in Goose Bay with his wife Amy and daughter Kristy.
Leo, originally from Lawn, Newfoundland and Labrador, is a dedicated Information Technology professional with over two decades of experience. He currently resides in Happy Valley-Goose Bay with his wife, Amanda, and their three children: Azarael, Sydney, and Kaelan.
Leo’s career began in 1997 at Xwave Communications in St. John’s, NL, where he developed a strong foundation in IT services and solutions. Over the next 12 years, he expanded his expertise while working with Labrador Grenfell Health, focusing on IT infrastructure and support in the healthcare sector.
In August 2019, Leo took on the role of Information Technology Officer with MTIE where he leverages his wealth of knowledge in IT administration to enhance the organization’s technological capabilities. His years of experience in managing IT systems and supporting their integration into day-to-day operations have made him an asset to both his team and the communities he serves.
In addition to his work at MTIE, Leo is a passionate advocate for improving access to information and communication technologies (ICT) in remote and rural Indigenous communities. He serves as a board member for the First Mile Connectivity Consortium, an initiative that celebrates the achievements of rural and remote First Nations communities. The consortium focuses on addressing the challenges of ICT adoption and exploring innovative solutions through a critical lens, aiming to foster better connectivity and inclusivity across underserved regions.
When not immersed in technology, Leo enjoys spending time with his family and staying engaged with the ever-evolving tech landscape.
