Leo, originally from Lawn, Newfoundland and Labrador, is a dedicated Information Technology professional with over two decades of experience. He currently resides in Happy Valley-Goose Bay with his wife, Amanda, and their three children: Azarael, Sydney, and Kaelan.
Leo’s career began in 1997 at Xwave Communications in St. John’s, NL, where he developed a strong foundation in IT services and solutions. Over the next 12 years, he expanded his expertise while working with Labrador Grenfell Health, focusing on IT infrastructure and support in the healthcare sector.
In August 2019, Leo took on the role of Information Technology Officer with MTIE where he leverages his wealth of knowledge in IT administration to enhance the organization’s technological capabilities. His years of experience in managing IT systems and supporting their integration into day-to-day operations have made him an asset to both his team and the communities he serves.
In addition to his work at MTIE, Leo is a passionate advocate for improving access to information and communication technologies (ICT) in remote and rural Indigenous communities. He serves as a board member for the First Mile Connectivity Consortium, an initiative that celebrates the achievements of rural and remote First Nations communities. The consortium focuses on addressing the challenges of ICT adoption and exploring innovative solutions through a critical lens, aiming to foster better connectivity and inclusivity across underserved regions.
When not immersed in technology, Leo enjoys spending time with his family and staying engaged with the ever-evolving tech landscape.
